| At
Donnington with the Masters race some people naturally looked back to
the rich heritage of the BTCC. At the track in this vein were two
classic Vauxhalls. The Astra and Cavalier that John Cleland won the BTCC
Championship with. The Astra (Champ in 1989) harks back to the complicated Class system the BTCC used to run, which allowed John to win the Championship without ever winning a race (or even getting close), or beating any of the serious competition in their Ford Sierra RS500s. The Cavalier (Champ in 1995) win was a hard fought straight fight though of course. Both great to see. |

| Also at the track was the late, great Will Hoy's 1991 BTCC winning BMW M3, driven by his nephew Edward Hoy. Also great to see of course. |

| The cars looked rather more stock back then didn't they? |
