| At Donnington
Park Alan Gow (head of TOCA) organised a great end of year bash. The
SEAT Leon Cupra Rs from the SEAT Cupra Cup (the Championship had
already finished at the previous round) were re-prepared for a race
of a few current and a host (some would say rogue's gallery :O) of
previous BTCC stars. Apologies up front for the quality of some of
the driver photos, my digital camera seems to have been having a
funny turn.
It was a fantastic turn
out by the drivers, some of whom had come a long way (Paul Radisich
for example), and was great fun. I didn't get Paul or Tim Harvey as
they were racing in the Porsche Supercup at the same time as the
"meet the drivers" segment. Legends like Rob Gravett and John Cleland
led some to believe the race would be all out war, but they are all
too professional to scrap all of those SEATs.
The event was very
popular with the crowd, basically everyone stayed after the last
BTCC race to watch and it was top entertainment. There was also a
throng around the drivers in the SEAT marquee to meet the drivers
before the event. It was great and here's to hoping they could do it
again.
On a completly biased
note it was great to see Alain Menu back, my personal favourite BTCC
driver of recent times, a proven race and championship winner, and
he didn't have a drive for next year last I heard... |
