SEAT Sport UK, Seat Toledo Cupra

11. Jason Plato (GB) & 12. Robert Huff (GB)

Before the season began there was some debate about how the parity would work in the BTCC, between the traditional British Touring Car cars and the ETCC spec cars, such as the SEAT. Some thought there would have to be more tinkering with the rule book to balance out the power difference between the two.

As it was SEAT did such a good job (not that surprising with RML building the cars) that none was necessary. Getting Jason Plato back was always going to generate some headlines, don't forget he left the BTCC behind to go off to "bigger and better" things and was always outspoken. But in 2004 he mostly let his driving do the talking, you'd be forgiven for not knowing he hadn't raced in the BTCC for a while.

Rob Huff got his drive as a result of winning the SEAT Cupra Championship in 2003 and did extremely well. Good on him. In 2005 he's off to other things and his place is taken by James Pickford (the 2004 winner in the Haribo car) and the team is joined by Luke Hines.

At Donnington the SEAT Cupra Championship was replaced by the wonderful BTCC Masters event, see some more on that here, which Jason Plato also raced in at Donnington Park.
